4th step for a successful restaurant / pub – Mission & Plan

In the previous step, you successfully defined your business’s vision, now you know what and when you would like to reach. That’s great, but if I want to be driving a Lamborghini in three years’ time, it doesn’t mean I will. And that’s where the plan comes in.

Your vision has to become your mission, you mission which has to be done no matter what, you will have to fight for it, and it will not be easy at all, and that’s how it supposed to be. If it would be easy then everybody would do it but not everybody is able to lead businesses, right?

“A goal without a plan is just a dream” – Brian Tracy

Brian is right. You have to define your plan.  Ask yourself the following question: “What I have to do to make my vision real?“. Your answer can be as simple as one or two sentences. But don’t stop there, try to break your plan into small pieces and attach deadlines to them. It is also important to write them down, because you will use them later.

Let’s take an example from the previous step: “after five years I would like to own three Italian restaurants in Budapest which offers only natural food”. Let’s assume that now it’s January of 2022 and you own one single restaurant. In this example a plan could look like the following.

Deadline

Step

Completed

March of 2022

Find a qualified Italian lead chef who has at least 3 years of experience of preparing natural Italian dishes.

<the date when you completed your step>

March of 2022

Find a good designer company which is specialized for redesigning restaurants, and start preparing the new design for your restaurant with it.

March of 2022

Find a good POS system which will suit your needs for managing even multiple restaurants which will not risk your financial resources.  (we can recommend the MobiRest at this point)

April of 2022

Start using the new POS system in real life.

May of 2022

Create your new, fully natural Italian menu with the help of your lead chef.

May of 2022

Finalize your restaurant’s design plan.

June of 2022

Train your other chefs and employees for being able to prepare every single item from the new menu.

July of 2022

Start the new, Italian-style renovation of your restaurant.

October of 2022

Finish your restaurant’s renovation.

February of 2023

Rent the second restaurant in Budapest.

February of 2023

Start preparing the new design for the 2nd restaurant.

etc.

etc.

Once the plan is ready, your next task is to follow it. It will be difficult at times, but never forget that this is your own plan, leading you towards your own goals.

We hope that you enjoyed the 4th step, see you in the next one.
