9th step for a successful restaurant / pub – Name & Logo

Finally we arrived at the last step. In this step, you should choose a name and logo for your business that expresses its valuesvision and personality.

Both the name and the logo are the cornerstones of your business, usually the first thing customers see. A well-designed logo and name can grab people’s attention. Of course, we won’t be able to help you name your business or design its logo, but we can give you some tips and best practices for both.

Let’s start with the name. A good name is short (maximum three words), easy to rememberwrite or say. Don’t forget to check if the name is available on Facebook, Instagram, etc., because you need to promote your business online. To do that you can go to dnschecker.org and write the name you choose. You can also check if you will be able to register a website with this name, by using the godaddy.com website.

Once you have a name you can make the second step, choose a logo. You have more options there, design it yourself, choose an auto generated logo (there are tons of websites for this purpose) or hire a designer. We strongly recommend the last one, even if you don’t know a designer personally you can find many online as well. Check fiverr.com, it’s a platform where you can easily hire a designer who won’t cost you too much.

There are multiple types of logos:

  • Icon: The logo is a simple icon. example: McDonalds
  • Wordmark: The logo is the business’s name. example: Coca Cola
  • Letter mark: The logo contains only some letters. example: HP
  • Icon wordmark combination: The logo combines an icon and the business’s name. example: Burger King
  • Emblem: Obviously the logo is an emblem. example: NFL

They are all good, what is more important than the type of logo is its flexibility. There are situations where you can use a more complex logo as long as you have the space, but there are also situations where you don’t have the space and you should use a simplified version of your logo. Do not forget to communicate this as well with your designer. In addition, it is highly recommended to use the same or similar colors for the logo as you used for the restaurant or pub design.

Congratulations

You have successfully defined the purpose of your business, you have chosen your target audience, you see your vision and you have a plan on how to achieve it, you have identified your competitors, but you have also figured out how you will be different from them, to that, you have built your business personality, you have created a good story around it and then you choose its name and logoGood job!!!
